This doc will cover how to enable and use the chat function for your livestream event.

Live Stream Chat allows your customers to chat with each other or directly with you during a live stream event. As the event organizer, you can enable or disable chat, respond to messages, and moderate or delete individual entries in real time.
What Live Stream Chat Can Do
  • Let attendees chat with each other during a live stream
  • Allow you to answer questions live
  • Give you moderation controls, including deleting messages
  • Optionally share one chat across multiple event dates
Enable Live Stream Chat
1. Go to Events > Manage Events 
2. From the Select Action menu on the event, choose Event Dates 
3. Locate your streaming date and click the gear icon.
4. Select Edit Video Stream.
5. Scroll down to the Video Chat section.
6. Enable Video Chat.
7. Set Show Video Chat:
  • Checked = Chat is open by default
  • Unchecked = Chat is closed by default
8. Click Save and Close.
Moderate the Chat
1. Click the gear again and select Edit Video Stream for your streaming date.
2. Scroll down and click Moderate Chat on the bottom of the page.

3. Leave this page open during your live stream.
4. You can:
  • View messages as they come in
  • Respond directly to attendees
  • Monitor all chat activity in real time
  • delete messages (optional) - this works for both attendee messages and your own messages.
How Attendees Use Chat

  • Attendees enter their name on the video page
  • They can send messages once chat is open
  • Chat visibility depends on your Show Video Chat setting
Is Event Chat (Optional Setting)
The Is Event Chat option controls whether chat is shared across event dates on the same event. 

  • Checked:
    All chat messages appear in a single chat across all event dates and live streams for that event.

  • Unchecked:
    Each event date or stream has its own separate chat.
This is useful for multi-day events where you want one continuous conversation.

That’s It! Once enabled, Live Stream Chat is ready to use for your event. Just keep the Moderate Chat page open during your stream to interact with attendees and manage the conversation.
