Learn how to create a stock donation letter template and process stock gifts in the system. This guide also explains how to use a custom payment type (such as ‘Stock Donation’) when completing the order.

Step 1: Create a Stock Letter Template
Go to Setup > Templates > Templates
Click the Add Template button on the top of the page
In the template type dropdown, select Donor Letter
Name the template (for example: Stock Letter)
Draft your letter
Use the Placeholder menu to add stock gift fields such as number of shares, symbol, value

When finished, click Add to save the template
Step 2: Process a Stock Donation
Go to Box Office > Box Office > Donation
In Contribution Type, select Stock Gift

Enter the following information:
- Amount of the stock gift received from the bank
- Transfer Date of the stock
- Number of Shares
- Stock Symbol
- Total Value
- Value Per Share

- Confirm the correct Campaign and other related settings
- Under Letter Template, select the Stock Letter you created earlier

Click Add Donation
You will be taken to the cart screen to complete processing
NOTE: Processing the order will use a Custom payment type. If you have not created a custom payment type, learn more about this HERE. You can call the custom payment type something like "Stock Donation".

That’s it. You now have a saved stock donation letter template and can process stock gifts directly in the system.
